Meyers is an Emmy-nominated technologist and entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience managing and leading local and globally distributed teams. As the Vice President of Large Scale Drupal at Acquia, Michael runs a consortium of the largest Drupal websites on the Internet. The Large Scale Drupal initiative provides a forum for enterprise users, listens to their needs, prioritizes them as a group, and determines the best way to address those needs through knowledge sharing, white papers, training, and software development - with the specific intent of the end results being contributed back to Drupal so that the framework and community benefit and improve. Prior to joining Acquia, Michael was CTO of Examiner.com where he led their re-design and migration to open source technology, launching the first Drupal-based top-100 Internet property, and one of the first Drupal 7 sites on the Internet, 6 months before the official Drupal 7 release. Michael joined Examiner.com when the company acquired his startup Nowpublic.com, which he founded in 2004. NowPublic was the first venture-backed Drupal based startup company - it pioneered citizen journalism, user-generated content, and crowdsourcing and grew rapidly from it’s inception to become a top 500 website prior to it’s merger with Examiner.com. With Bell Canada, he built and managed a team of 12 architects and developers, the largest technical team of Bell Web Solutions at the time.
